Peak District Landscape Photography

A while ago I ventured to the Peak District for the first time.  And wow what a place!  I couldn't believe that this was my first time there and quite easy to get to from where I live.  I will definitely be coming back here to Derbyshire.  In fact I have already booked a new trip in late summer for the heather and will definitely be back next autumn for the autumn colour and the mists.  Such an amazing place, I got lots of lovely images.  I was using a Canon 27-70 f2.8 borrowed for this shoot but I have now got a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 for half the price which is probably just as amazing if not better apart from the fact I haven't got a red stripe on it.  There are no filters used...this is my next purchase and will probably help me better in my control of light. Here are a few from the day....although still got hundreds to process!

Peak District Forest.  Peak District is the perfect place to capture misty trees and all things photography.  A lot of walking by all of us was involved on the day but definitely worth it for images like these.

This image looks good in black and white and helps capture the movement of the scene and the water.

There was mist everywhere that morning waxing and waning as the morning went on.  A perfect background to capture amazing images.  I use LIghtroom for tweaks and use actions from a favourite photographer of mine Sarah Gardner.  I try to get it right in camera then dont have to do much work but some of my images are more processed but it all depends how I see the picture before I take it.  Some can have hardly anything and some can have a lot.  You instantly know when you have the perfect image but this comes with practice and practice helps an awful lot!! Just as in any art or task.

Another misty tree sunset shot.  You can have too many of these!

This is one of my favourite images walking up Surprise View at the Peak District Derbyshire. I love this one in colour and black and white but feel it looks extra special in print tones.  An amazing day weather wise with a fog bow, a cloud inversion, sun, and mist all in one 8 hours.

There are trees of every type in the Peak District and plenty of different and creative compositions you can use.  Here is one using colour.

Epic landscapes to be found in the Peak District.  This is really the first time out using a tripod - I normally hate them.  I am not sure if this is a tripod one or just handheld as normal but love the look.  Definitely epic.

Loved the shapes and stripes of these trees.  They look a bit like zebras on a landscape.  Was playing with split tones with this one and a few others in Lightroom.  I love the purple and the green together with the stripey trees. Look amazing.

Water flows through these streams and lakes all over the Peak District.

Love the shapes the trees make in with the mist and autumn leaves.
